The Perfectionists and the Good Girls by Sara Shepard.

These are the kind of books I can't put down until I've finished them and I'm still thinking about them after that. I've seen Pretty Little Liars, I haven't read the books, because frankly, 16 books are just too many for me. I like the show, although it keeps repeating itself.

Since I wasn't going to read all those books I thought I could read this one by the same author. I didn't know it had a sequel then. The first book ended with a huge cliffhanger, so I had to get the sequel immediately.

There are five main-characters (I think). In the beginning, it was confusing, but I got used to it fast enough. All the five main characters are interesting and different and not one-dimensional. The five girls, Parker, Julie, Ava, Mackenzie and Caitlyn all have their issues, goals and motives. There's also quite a bit of diversity.

Then there's the murder and the mystery behind it. I think this was given a lot of thought and well worked out.

I read both the books in two days. I really liked the ending. Although the books have their flaws, overall they are great.

Funny story… at the library I saw the sequel to this book, The Good Girls, and I picked it up and started reading it. (But I only read the prologue). I saw that it was the sequel to this book and I thought to myself ‘maybe I should read the first one first’… so I did and:

This book was very good!! It was exactly what I was hoping for it to be: full of twists and turns and lots of cliffhangers

5 girls in the same film class. Ava, Mackenzie, Parker, Julie and Caitlin. They think they have nothing in common until they are put in the same discussion group in their film studies class. And they all discover that they hate the same person. Nolan Hotchkiss. And they plan how they would kill him. Hypothetically, of course. They’d never kill anyone…
But then Nolan ends up dead. In the same way they had talked about. But they didn’t do it. So who did?

Amazing book with twists and turns. Only reason I rated it 4.5 / 4 stars was because there were some kind of, mature scenes. But otherwise I very much enjoyed the book! Cannot wait to read the sequel!!

2,5... déception quand même. ce livre est une quasi copie des menteuses. tout est pareil. et en plus on ne résoud rien à la fin du roman. j'ai ce sentiment de non achevé. c'est dommage.

So this is pretty similar to the PLL series, but I kind of liked it. Not perfect, pretty obvious, same structure, but it was fun to read. Gonna read the sequel, but I really hope it doesn't drag on for years like PLL.

Honestly, rating this is hard for me because I am such trash for this. Like...PLL was terrible (I say that with all of the love in my heart) but it was also crack. And though I don’t have as much of a connection with this set of characters yet, I know I’ll be going down the same track. So take all of these stars with a grain of salt, but I, personally, am LIVING!

I love Sara Shepard and yes all Sara Shepard books are the sameish. She isn't giving you anything thought provoking or life changing. This is a fun page turner full of all the Sara Shepard standards; lying, backstabbing, cheating, secrets, inappropriate hookups, drugs and drinking.
It was a little hard to keep track of everyone and everything in the beginning but I got past it after the first few chapters. I wasn't wishing that any of the main characters would wind up dead, which can't be said for a lot of the YA I read.
Yes, I'm sure I will read every book in this series.

I used to love reading Sara Shepard's books... until PLL went on and on and on and on. If you don't want to be caught in another PLL cycle where answers are "coming soon" and never appear, you should skip this one.

Accidentally checked this book out of the library and figured why not read it. Not satisfying! Ends on a cliffhanger without clearing up any unknowns :/
