I love Lucy Foley, but there was entirely too much useless information in the first half. It got quite boring and I didn't finish it as fast as her other books because this made it feel way too long.

Very confused as to why all of the female POVs were written in first person, and the one male POV (Doug) was written in third? It really disrupted the flow of the novel for me, and left me scratching my head each time it happened.

This was a book I hadn't heard of but after getting it as a gift I saw it all over instagram. This is a who done it kind of set up but also you don't find out who was killed until the end too. I love a good thriller and this was good but i felt it dragged out a bit in the middle.

First two-thirds was a snoozefest. Almost DNF'd. But it finally picked up and went at a brisk pace to the end.

The red herrings are so clumsy you don't realize they were there until after the fact. As in - "Oh, that bit back there was supposed to mislead me into thinking the opposite" and the opposite never even crossed my mind.

I couldn't feel close to any of these characters, even in a "love to hate them" way. Now this is different from No Exit, where it was easy to be close to Darby. There were stakes.

Maybe that's the major problem here. There are no stakes. Someone's already dead. Very little of the book is in present day, and nowhere does it seem like someone else is in danger. Okay, one spot with potential danger for like two sentences but then danger over.

There was no dread or fear built up. I wasn't worried that anyone else would die and I didn't care about their very basic, very dull relationship issues. Nothing could be lost. No one changed or grew. Well wait - the only decent humans in the story did grow a tiny bit, but it still wasn't eventful or cathartic.

I really want to like this genre. It sounds fun. Gonna keep trying.

There was some good parts and there were some parts which I felt a but unnecessary or drawn out.  It was slow to start and a bit repetitive in the beginning but then it picked up and finally the story moved along.
I liked how you did not know who the victim was for the most part of the story.
