I flew over the last 100 pages. It was a really good book in the beginning, but it lost its momentum and appeal towards the end.
But she was looking into the past, trying to understand when it was that all the laughter died.
Let me start with a warning that this review is not going to be free of spoilers. Please read this review only after you have read the book. If you're looking for any opinions whether to read this book or not, please do. It's one of the best books I have ever read. I mean it.
I have read maybe nine of ten books written by SS and I have to say this one trumps them all. I never thought I'd say this after reading [b:The Sands of Time|119382|The Sands of Time|Sidney Sheldon|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1356453253s/119382.jpg|291432] or [b:Windmills of the Gods|119389|Windmills of the Gods|Sidney Sheldon|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1405239745s/119389.jpg|291433] but I am saying this today: Rage of Angels is by far the greatest piece of literature by Sidney Sheldon.
I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions out of which heartbreak was the most frequent. Death of Joshua was so friggin' unexpected I thought my heart stopped for a nanosecond. With every line I read, I was hoping he'd wake up and it'll be okay for Jennifer; they'd go on vacations and eat Mexican food again but shit never happened.
In fact after that, everything kept going downhill.
The worst part (even worse than Joshua's death) was Michael Moretti's death. Well, yeah, he sucked, but whatever. I loved his character. He was badass, a heartless bastard who got what he wanted. A very complex character who claimed to be ruthless but somewhere his weakness pulled him into the disaster that awaited him. He was also a leader of Mafia. A perfect villain that I always, despite myself, fall for. THEY SHOULDN'T BE MAKING THEM SO SEXY!
The other highlighted heartbreaking part of the book (out of so many I cannot possibly name) were the last two pages. That bitch Mary Beth got what she wanted, didn't she? If we take a closer look, all that happened was because that bitch was well, bitch enough to not let Adam go. That was the turning point. Her pregnancy. After that, Jennifer joined the Mafia, Michael came in her life, and a string of unfortunate events kept happening that lead us to a sad ending. Both Adam and Jennifer were departed, and forever. There was no turning back. It was sealed in the fates after his election as the President.
I had wished for a twisted but a happy ending but this turned out to be the exact opposite of a happy ending. Twisted, yes, but nothing happy. Adam Warner became the President of the United States of America and Jennifer continued her law practice. Both left all alone. The only good thing that came out of the last pages was the mention of Ken Bailey. God bless that homosexual soul!
A solid five-star rating and it deserves nothing less. A true masterpiece by a genius!

Having read this 15 years ago, I still remembered the 3 main characters and loved the book back then.
Rereading it was entertaining, although it no longer had the same effect on me now. I still loved Jennifer and still wished a happier ending for her, though.
