I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK. This damn story had me crying and laughing left and right!

Pros:
- Touch her and you die vibes
- Why Choose
- Solid, Heartfelt friendships
- Interesting characters and storyline
- Spicyyyy
- "Mine"
- RAVEN <3

Cons:
- It's a dark, spooky situation and yet the FMC is not as concerned about everything that she should be concerned about.
- If they talk about Ghost's "demon fucking monster cock" one more time, I'm sending a strongly worded letter...
- It felt a little choppy and strange in the beginning.
- For a FMC presented as a paranoid, scared victim, she is not very self-preserving. Too trusting.
- "virgin blood"...

"Would you like to stay with me tonight? If you're worried or afraid, I'd rather you be somewhere you feel safe. If you feel safe with me, that is."- Ames

OH-KAY. So, this was a trust the process story at the beginning and then it hooked me in with all the secondary characters. They were so interesting! Ash Grove has magical beings that are trapped there. They all form cliques during the month long Hallows' Fest in October. Everyone hangs out and parties in the woods. But they're not stupid, drunk humans with red solo cups (though, some might attend as well). There's pirates, ghosts, werewolves, vampires, demons, ravens, etc. It was too cool to stop reading.
Then you have Ames, Onyx, and Wolfgang! Those boys are amazing! I love the different types of personalities in why choose romances. The romance between Blythe and Ames was delicious, if at times a little childish.
The feeling of family and belonging made you want to stay in Ash Grove yourself.

SHOUT OUT TO MY BOY RAVEN! We love him!!! And he has snacks! (Please read this book.)

The things that kept this from a 5 were the oddly childish moments and though the spice was good, some of the words used or even some of the actions pull you out of the fantasy. Like, why did you say that??? Could have went my whole life without that.

This review is already too long so I will stop there and give you some quotes!
Thanks for reading this far in, besties!

What a fun read for October!
Why-choose, PNR with morally black MMCs, found family, hidden identities, and a “who did this to you?”
Several explicit sex scenes with a MMC in monster form.

Spoiler Free Summary:
Blythe, our FMC, is on the run from her homicidal step-father who is looking for payback after Blythe wronged him. Her latest stop? Ash Grove, a spooky little town obsessed with the paranormal, where Halloween is the new Christmas. She doesn’t know why but she feels drawn to this town and it’s people, and they feel drawn to her right back.

Blythe catches the attention of some men. Men who are much more than they seem to be, whose history seems engrained in the town itself. The Halloween Boys. Which is lucky, because they might be the only beings bad enough to save her from what’s coming… or are they??

Blythe as a character is a little naive, and a lot traumatized. She is in survival mode, trying her best to just stay alive, even if sometimes it seems easier for her to die. I appreciate her grit and determination. I really enjoyed seeing her go from terrified, barley there, girl to confident and happy woman.

While there are ultimately four MMCs, this book almost exclusively focuses on her relationship with Ames (“Ghost”). He is a super protective and possessive demon daylighting as a therapist, it’s quite humorous. Their relationship is honestly pretty sweet all things considered, although I definitely feel like there could have bene more character info/development.

Actually, that is probably my one criticism, and the reason this didn’t not get 5 stars. The character development was a tad underwhelming.

The plot, the setting, the lore was honestly really fun. And the smut was top notch monster yumminess.

The concept of this was cool and some of it was solid. I did get a little bored here and there, due to it being repetitive description of Halloween decorations. But overall it was a pretty good book. I’m excited for dragon’s book because he’s my favorite so far. I thought ghost was but he got a little annoying and overprotective (not in a cute way, in a “I’m the alpha male and you do what I say”, very wattpadish”). I’m curious about Devil too, that last scene with him is giving me hope that his book is gonna be smutty as shit

This was good! I loved the first half especially. I felt like we really worked to build the relationship with Ghost and Blythe. Considering everything, I liked seeing it take a while to get them together. The plot was so interesting. I was really invested in seeing where things would go here. I don't feel like the RH relationship felt balanced enough. I understand that the author wanted to focus on Ghost, but it felt so unbalanced even from Blythe's POV. There were some fun steamy scenes. I laughed a lot. This was good time. I'm not hard pressed to read the next book but I am interested to see how these other relationships grow.

2.5 not planning on continuing this series

The plot and characters were interesting but there was too much that wasn’t explained enough. There were some plot holes and questions that got lost in the plot and never answered too. It was still entertaining and I might pick up the rest of the series sometime but just not right now.

I Am Never Leaving Ashgrove

Halloween town was my favorite thing to watch when October came around. I live for Halloween and to have found an ADULT HALLOWEENTOWN, I’m done. I love it. I’m trapped. The Halloween Boys were everything I never knew I was missing. Thank you, Kat

A ton of paranormal fun

I almost didn't read this book as it looked like her H was wanting to murder her at the beginning. This is NOT the case. I was also afraid it would end on a cliff hanger; it does not. It ends, just leaves room for future adventures. It could be read as stand alone.

A fun mystery, supernatural creatures, insta love, shifting, Halloween, and some spice. Only a couple spicy scenes, but the story is very consuming and I didn't miss more spice.

This book has m/m in one scene and m/f in two+ scenes.

Its me again, your favorite spoiler girl

I orginally DNF-ed this but then decided to pick it back up and wished i hadnt

Lets get to spoiling

1. shes a reaper

2. she killed her dad and something took over his body

3. she knew the guys werent human because she faked "sleeping and prenteding not to know"she knew

4.The thing that was after her was some "master"idk i think they said it was baphoment or something ( i skimmed )

5. If you made it this far then youll remember her seeing some doll called Ellie May from Mr. Moores place? in the attic? yeah that comes to life and that is what is chasing her.

6. Omg ok so when her and Ghost finally get together ( they bang in a graveyard) its stretches out a GOOD FEW CHATPERS IM NOT KIDDING. Its all " kiss me" "f**king* " kiss me" " f**king" etc etc and then " Ohhh im gonna watch Onyx and Dragon f*ck" and then right back to her and ghost "kiss me' "f**king" AGAIN! she couldve cut all the crap out and get to the part where they finally tell her shes a EFFING REAPER!

7. Oh heres the kicker ok so she sets Ellie May free by reuniting her with her parents and they "fade away" like a freaking fade to black screen and cut too all the happy spirits in the graveyard watch her and smile all happy because Blythe set them alll free. NO IM NOT JOKING THATS HOW IT ENDS! NO NOT KIDDING

8. How she sets Ellie May free is all " were not who people say we are were not evil were this lets believe in ourselves" like this is some paranormal afterschool SPECIAL EPISODE? Huh?

AND THATS ALL! NO IM NOT KIDDING THAT IS ALL THAT HAPPENED LIKE SHE FINALLY GETS THEM TOGETHER AND WE STILL GO THROUGH " OOOOH YOURE SPECIAL YOURE DIFFERENT" AND THEY STILL DONT TELL HER ANYTHING! UNTIL LIKE 7 PAGES AWAY FROM THE ENDING?! She really said ooooh im getting my money im gonna make this last? And because of that and the repitive kiss me- f**k me i got bored. It was good in the middle but the moment they got together, FLAT BORING. If she wouldve eliminated all the unnecessary BS it wouldve been really good. But nope. And i do not even wanna waste my time on the second book. So there you go. Youre favorite spoiler girl spoils again. Im sure there is stuff i missed but idk to remember. Im jsut happy to be free of this book
