Always love WW2 women historical fiction. I always notice the focus on biking around in these books too. This started out slow but not boring and then around 60% I really got hooked because I wanted to find out what happened! Based on the authors notes it seems like she could have made the story much more stressful and filled with peril because Nancy’s life was but I kind of liked the way she made it a love story instead and saved the stress until the story built!

This book is unreal in that it’s based on a true story. Only complaint is as the timelines got a little closer near the end it was a little hard to keep track of. Also some of the more minor characters eluded me at times.

4.5 stars. This definitely belongs in the genre of WWII historical fiction that centers badass women. If this is a genre you like, you'll like this book. I did. I didn't realize it was based on a true story until the end!

Really gripping book based on a true story. I enjoyed this a lot more than I'd expected to. I'm marking it down half a point for the obsessive detailing of people's appearance and (especially) height. Also,
the author invented the character of Marceline, fine, but this opened up an issue whereby I found it unrealistic that Henri wouldn't have considered it maybe not the best idea to live nextdoor to his awful ex-girlfriend's police boss
