DID NOT FINISH

Read a few pages where main character checks out the men on a bomber with her.  But she's married so eyes only lol.  Can tell this isn't for me.

Lawhon does a remarkable job of developing each character.  This is based on real people.  Some were absolute heroes and accomplished much to help the war effort and those suffering.  Some were absolutely despicable and I wanted them to die.  My emotions were all over the place with this.  So well written.

4.5 only because on audiobook, the timeline jumps were incredibly confusing! Very good otherwise!

An excellent historical fiction about a total bad ass woman!

Absolutely fascinating story. I knew very little about what took place in occupied France during WWII prior to reading this, and I appreciated learning about it primarily through the lens of a female spy and leader. I almost can’t believe how much of what transpired in this book is true. It’s both heartbreaking and heartwarming at times, but definitely worth the read.

Refreshingly good ww2 book after so many repetitive plots! Very sarcastically funny main character without being gimmicky, based on the true story of Nancy Wake.
