Independent spinster catches the eye of rich, brutish lord.

I got bored by this one. It really slowed down in the middle. Without any plot, the author had to rely on internal conflict, which meant petty drama, arguments, and misunderstandings that did not progress the story at all. There were random characters that would seem important one second and not be mentioned for the rest of the book. The story begins with her trying to fix her brother’s gambling/drinking problems. That storyline never gets tied up and he is not at all present in the second half of the book.

Kate Reading’s performance was not great. She made the MMC sound constipated most of the time. I had trouble taking the story seriously because of how she read everything like it was a joke.
