This feels more like a short introduction/setup to a series than an actual book, like book 0.5 instead of book 1...unless all the books in the series are going to be 50 or so pages, then I guess this would be book 1. I see potential in this, bad ass women vampires in New Orleans, I just had some issues with the execution. I think a good editor could really take this to the next level. There were times where instead of a continuously flowing story, things would jump around from paragraph to paragraph, which I feel would come off better with some paragraph breaks. Towards the end, the story jumps ahead, seemingly by hundreds of years, without any kind of "Present day" marker or anything. It leaves you with a "wait, what just happened" feeling, where I felt like I might have missed something. Overall, I really could see myself enjoying this series if it was structured a little better.
