I wished I knew this story was closely based on a true story going into it as it would've been much more meaningful for me during the slower start. Once I reached about 2/3 it was hard to put it down, but honestly if it wasn't based on a real life story I'd have DNF at 1/3 (reviews convinced me to keep going). If you are interested in historical fiction then I'd rate this as a 4 ⭐️ but if historical fiction isn't your cup of tea then I think the novel would be too slow for you.
