This book was good and had a cute ending. Can definitely see it being super appealing to its target audience but I think Simon vs the Homosapiens was much more engaging than either of the follow up books in the Simonverse.

I don't know what it was about this book that finally flipped the switch for me to bring Becky Albertalli from a cutesy 4-star writer (which is what I gave both Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda and The Upside of Unrequited, because I felt like they were just missing a little something) into a better 5-star writer, but something flipped here and I'm really happy about it.

Maybe it was because I related to Leah's insecurities a little better than I did with Simon's, or I just liked Leah better than Molly, who didn't seem to have a whole lot of dimension to her, but this just felt a lot more authentic, less cutesy, more focused on the gut-wrenching feeling of being in love with someone and feeling incapable of being with that someone.

I think it helped that I just saw Simon's story retold on the silver screen in Love, Simon a couple of weeks ago, too. Not only did it serve as a little recap for me, since I read Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda almost two years ago now, but I think it helped endear me to the characters. Sure, I thought Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda was a cute story, but Love, Simon ended up packing a much larger emotional punch for me than I expected, especially with my much more subdued reaction to the book.

I liked this a whole lot. I loved seeing Simon and Bram together; it was really fun to get to see them be an actual couple. I loved Bram's prom-posal so much, I thought I was going to die in an ocean of mushy feelings. It was also really cool to see the whole gang kind of get their own little epilogue or metaphorical ellipses, just building on the way Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda set everything up. That was one thing I didn't like about the way Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda (as well as The Upside of Unrequited for that matter) was that it felt like it we were given enough time to really care about or know the characters and, once we did, the book was over. This book fixed that for me.

The only real disappointment was, as soon as Abby and Leah decided to road trip to Athens, I got myself excited, expecting we were going to get to see Molly and Reid as a couple, just like we got to see Simon and Bram together, but Becky Albertalli totally blew it! I am like genuinely upset about it. Like, not only did Abby introduce what Molly looked like to Leah, but there was a perfect setup of a party where Leah could have run into them! I am so bummed about it you have no idea.

Other than that, this was a really cute, sweet little book, but it was cuter and sweeter than anything Albertalli has written before. I really hope that carries over to her collaboration with Adam Silvera later this fall when What If It's Us comes out, because I somehow have become even more excited for it than I already was before.

The sentences just don't flow, Leah just gets more annoying as the story goes on. The first person POV isn't executed properly. I Loved Simon Vs. but this isn't as good. Sorry.

This book was absolutely wonderful such a great read I would definitely recommend this. Leah is such a relatable character and the love in this story is amazing.

So disappointed in this one. I loved Simon so much but I was struggling to finish this one.
