Set during the German occupation of the Netherlands 1940 - 1944, the novel follows the life of Henri Osewoudt and a mysterious resistance agent Dorbeck. It's a story about the absurdity and brutality of the life of average citizens during wartime. It's also a story about the right and the wrong and all in between. It's also a story about how fragile a seemingly solid reality can be.

Ik heb dit boek ooit gelezen voor school, en was het eerste boek waar ik me echt helemaal in heb verdiept. Wat een interessant verhaal, echt geweldig.
