I love this in a 'grieving boy finding his place in the world' way instead of a 'narcissist who hates everyone' way and I think that is a very important distinction!
I really think that a lot of people missed the point of this book

what a big mess. plenty of the writing was boring (digression!) & Holden Caulfield was a giant phony, but that was sort of half the appeal?? i don't know how anyone can look at a kicked puppy and complain about its whining.

Ugh hated it even more than I did in high school
