Caveat that I came to this book from a marriage not in crisis, though I did recognize a lot of the patterns we were in before I got treatment. In general my complaints are that the author is too focused on capital C Crisis, and also clearly has some remaining anger about ADHD behavior. There are plenty of people who could use relationship advice who aren’t having affairs or cop to verbal abuse. But it is full of good advise regardless of crisis state, and also just a good overview of all the secondary and relationship effects of ADHD.

Honestly, this should have been a DNF for me, but I kept waiting for it to get better? Spoiler, it doesn’t. If possible, it gets worse. I only gave it the one star because I saw some other reviews where people found this book helpful so that’s cool I guess. This book was filled with couples in abusive relationships and somehow that was blamed on ADHD. It was also sexist, heteronormative, reductive and patriarchal. There’s almost no female ADHD representation, all the couples are male and female, and most of them have children as well. It feels like the author (who is married to a man with ADHD, not an expert on ADHD) figured out some things that work in her relationship and wrote a book.
