This series is a quick and easy read. I never watched Friday Night Lights but I feel like it’s gotta be similar to that. My only problem is the almost instant falling in Love, the soap opera quality plot and the nicely tied up perfect endings. But the stories do suck you in.
Loved everything about Brady and Riley, but disappointed that Riley’s rapist was never brought to justice or even really handled.

THIS BOOK GAVE ME THE FEELS
thank you, Júlia, for introducing me a series to be obsessed about and yes, you were right, it needed to be YA

*5 Stars*
Oh boy I love Abbi's books. I really enjoyed reading this and I sped through it in about 24 hours.
I'm so glad that Riley got her own story and I really loved her as a character. No-one should have to endure what she went through, and she has come out so strong on the other side, and oh man Bryony is such a little cutie.
Brady is an easy guy to like and though he has his own battles in this book, he remains the kind of upstanding guy that makes you hope there are more of out there in the world.
We get our fave characters back from the previous book in this one, of course as secondary characters, but they're there all the same.
This is a story of acceptance, forgiveness and learning how to be strong in the face of tough times.
If you love Abbi's books and this series its a must read!

After waiting a year, we finally get the next installment in this fantastic series! Thank you Queen Abbi!
With Gunner and Willa official, Brady feels a little left out having lost the girl he likes to his best friend. Between that and things at home, Brady starts to question whether his football dreams are his or his father's. And with this being his last chance to win for the Lawton Lions, he has to put in all or nothing. Meanwhile, Riley is trying to to adapt to life back in Lawton after two years away. Between looking after her daughter Bryony and her grandmother suffering from Alzheimer's, she's missing out on the joys of her final year at high school. And with everyone still accusing her of lying about Rhett Lawton raping her, she doesn't have any friends to hang out with. Then in walks Brady, who comes to learn that everything he ever thought about Riley was wrong and that maybe they both need someone to care about in this world, no matter what anyone else thinks.
We got to see a scene between Brady and Riley in the previous book, so I was really excited to dive into their story here. We got to learn a little bit about Riley's backstory in the previous book, so finally getting her side of the story was great.
First off, trigger warning, this book does talk about rape. While I didn't like the fact that Riley was accused on lying about Rhett raping her - the whole town unable to believe that the Lawton golden boy would do such a thing - I really enjoyed seeing how Riley was able stand strong and move forward, seeing Bryony as the silver lining to such a horrible experience. A majority of the town still refused to believe her, but to see other characters come to terms with the truth that happened was interesting to see, and how they owned up to the face that they were wrong for turning their backs on Riley.
However, I didn't really like the way this aspect of the story was dealt with, putting aside the whole victim blaming thing. It felt too convenient that Riley wasn't going to fight back and do something about it. There were moments that felt like it was leading up to confrontation, but it just petered out. Even a scene near the end of the book that should have been a lot more raw and emotional was glossed over all too conveniently.
Out of all of Abbi's books, I felt like this one really lacked with relationship drama. In her previous books, the couple would always meet a road block or misunderstanding that they'd have to get past in order for the happy ending. This book didn't have that, and I think that element is what makes Abbi's books so enjoyable - seeing the characters fight to be together and fight for their happy ending. In one sense, this was kind of enjoyable, just seeing two characters being their for each other when they needed someone and a relationship growing out of that, but it's not what you expect from Abbi's books. It was just missing something.
What I did love about this book is that it closed the arc of the West, Gunner and Brady, the seniors who are now graduating. The next three books will focus on the new seniors, so it was nice to have closure about these three characters. I hope they do make an appearance in the future, but it definitely feels like the next three books will be focusing on a 'new generation' kind of thing, with characters we've previously met but don't know too much about.
Overall, I did enjoy this book. Yes, it was lacking in places, but at the end of the day I loved every minute of the book and the characters Abbi has created. This series if perfect for anyone wanting to get into Abbi's books, especially younger teens who are looking for a bit of high school romance. Plus, the covers in this series continue to look amazing. A must-read for Abbi Glines fans and romance readers!
