A tale of women's revenge, betrayal and sisterhood.

This is the second book in a series called Faye's Revenge, the first being 'The Golden Cage' which I read back in 2018, and I've been waiting for the follow up for a long time!

What made the first book amazing, was the social commentary, the justice served upon the bad guys and, to be honest, tales of revenge is always interesting to read.

In this book, however, the main character Faye has become too much of what she opposed in the first book. Quite frankly, she disappointed me, and to add insult to injury, some of her actions seemed out of character considering what she has been through.

I saw the plot and twists coming from a mile off, which meant I spent most of the book wanting to shout at Faye for being stupid. A little of this in a book can be a good thing, it puts the reader on the edge because we know more than the characters, but combined with the aforementioned out-of-character actions, it was just plain annoying.

What it boils down to is this, I think: in the first book, and in the flashbacks of this one, Faye's actions are explained away - you can see why she acts the way she does. Here though, she moves from retaliation and revenge to just being an entitled and unlikeable character.

The finale of the book didn't disappoint though, and it was a thrilling conclusion (I reckon there'll be a third, based on that cliffhanger).
