What a wild story. Gabriel Allon is amazing but so many other really great characters. Crazy twist that ties things together at the end. Wow.

Awesome spy thriller set in the Vatican/Italy/Grindelwald areas. Really entertaining and had some awesome bits with secret societies inside the Vatican that were really interesting.

The back cover states it's compelling and intelligent. Those are accurate words. Really enjoyable story and premise. I'm going to seek out the rest of the series. Really enjoyable.

So interesting!! The story is about the involvement of the Catholic Church in Hitler’s Jewish Solution by not coming out on the side of humanity and condemning it.

Note: Possible Spoilers!

Although it is certain that many Catholics will find this novel offensive and troublesome, IMHO the reason for this is simply that the truth hurts. While most people know of the horror of the Holocaust, I am fairly certain that just as many do not know that the Catholic church did little to aid in its prevention or demise.

This facet of information is critical to the development of the story of The Confessor. The fact that the protagonist is a Spy and an Assassin only adds to the drama, intrigue and involvement in the story. Also, I find Mr. Silva's ability to wrap a fictionalized story around historical fact (in a manner that is similar to Dan Brown and James Rollins), to be brilliant and engrossing.

While not all readers will enjoy this combination of writing, for those that do, this book is highly recommended.

Super interesting. And published in 2003, so the discussion of secret documents about the Catholic Church's reaction (or lack thereof) to the Holocaust was fascinating, since the church apparently released a bunch of docs about this very thing just last year.

A very enjoyable thriller with a smartly done plot and great locations. I listened to the audio version which was narrated by John Lee who did a great job with all the different nationalities of the characters and kept the pacing smooth.
