A book I've been meaning to read since I was a teenager. Short and sharp, but a bit overplayed and has aged a touch with some overtly racist language. Still quite effective though.

Ich finde es immer wieder beeindruckend, wie unterschiedlich Lovecraft seine einzelnen Geschichten gestalten kann. Diese ist die Forschung nach einem Geheimniss und Stück für Stück ziehen wir eine Ebene nach der anderen weg, um das große Mysterium um Cthulhu zu lüften. Es ist nicht wirklich gruselig, aber das muss es auch nicht sein. Die Spannung kommt durch die Welt und deren Offenbarungen.

The best Lovecraft short story I have read thus far. The ending was a little strange but the build-up was steady and kept me interested. A fast read that it a must read for fans off horror stories.
