Lots of different things happening in this storyline, but they all seem to work together. Most female main characters are younger, ready for the next phase of their lives and it was interesting seeing this from a divorced mom of an adult child perspective, who isn't sure who she is or what she really wants, but is thrown into the next phase of her life, regardless.

I really enjoyed having an older FMC and a generally older supporting cast. This book was kinda silly and very fun and I'll definitely be continuing on with the series!
Also I fucking knew Austin was gonna be a bear shifter. Glad the author didn't go with the whole wolf thing. Bears are cooler.

Cozy read plus dark faerie/fantasy plus getting older plus a little spicy. Yes. Just yes.
I honestly only borrowed this from the library because it was available and it was a "Graphic Audio" production. I love the full cast readings of audiobooks and this sounded kinda up my alley ( fantasy-esque). But it couldn't hook me at all. I could tell it was trying to go the romcom route, but even the comedy wasn't landing and seemed just...meh. Someone else may enjoy this, but it just wasn't hooking me and seemed kinda boring.
It was fine but not my favorite KF Breene book. I found the portrayal of a 40 year old as almost geriatric at times. I was 39 when my second child was born, so this was super hard to relate too and just didn’t seem realistic. Obviously, everyone ages differently so it’s clearly a perspective thing. I will read the second book at some point and maybe that will reach me better. BTW love KF Breene books in general so this is an unusual reaction for me. Not all books are meant for all readers. I applaud this group of authors for stepping outside the norm and doing pnr from a more mature perspective..
