Goldie, the female witch lead, was kidnapped by dire wolf shifters who are trying to claim a witch to access her powers in the last book of the previous series (Abbott Coven). The prologue provides all the set up needed for this story but Goldie wakes to find herself in a warded house that she can’t leave.

Aiden, the male direwolf shifter lead, is a successful author coming home after finishing a book tour, to a dysfunctional pack. He’s shocked to find a strange witch has boobytrapped his house but he’s definitely not unhappy to see her…

Aiden is desperate to keep his pack safe from Goldie’s (not unreasonably) incensed relatives and begs her to stay until he negotiates a peace. But some of his relatives are less interested in peace…

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and the beginning of a new story arc within the author’s existing paranormal world. I love this author’s style and enjoy the characters’ style of interacting. I sympathised with both lead characters’ self esteem and self confidence issues and appreciated the way they built each other up. I enjoyed Goldie’s bluntness and Aiden’s word smithing. I enjoyed the relationship development. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters. I’m looking forward to the journey of this new story arc!
