Another fantastic, smart and tough and caring and dark book from Margaret Killjoy. I love her writing style. The demon hunting endeavour, while a little less exciting in setting and particulars than the first book, satisfied. The characters, the main five who fled at the end of book one, plus a couple new crust punk librarians and a cool older small town Christian woman, make for great banter, believable tossing about of ideas, dry humour, and waxing sentimental about companionship. The ethics, much like the first one, are written in as so necessary and offer a lot to learn from.
I try not to believe in vengeance, only solving problems… The path back to the light is always there, even if most people won’t take it and sometimes you need to kill then if they won’t, in order to keep yourself and your community or even strangers safe.
