Unfortunately the finale is the weakest of the series, but this is still a very compelling and enjoyable trilogy.

I liked learning about the aliens but the ending wasn’t great. I also thought the writing was weaker. It felt more forced. I thought the writing in the first 2 and the test was decent enough, but it seems like with this one and his newest the writing just isn’t as great.

I am really sad to say that the finale of this trilogy fell a little flat for me. As a whole, I really loved the Themis files. It was exciting, had some great characters, a lot of action and even thought-provoking at times. The first two novels were building to what I thought would be really climactic third novel and ending and it just didn't happen that way. This novel gave resolution, but in a quieter way and it didn't satisfy as much as I wanted. With that said, the audiobooks for this series are SO well done. Since this trilogy is written mostly in an interview-type format, the audiobook really enhances the reading experience.

More introspective — and, at times, preachy feeling — than the previous installments. There were some changes in the voice cast that took some getting used to, as well.

I did grin at some pop culture references, which seemed more liberally peppered into this one, but also kept throwing me off because of the timeline and character experiences feeling like they wouldn’t line up. This one felt more like an attempt to write Literature, though still wrapped in delightful giant robot shenanigans.

I enjoyed the world building, though felt that there were some loose ends and unexplored avenues I’d have liked to see more of.

First, I loved the time we got to spend on Esat Ekt, the planet Themis was built on. Their culture, politics, and bureaucracy was believable and fascinating. There was just enough detail for me to "see" Ekt and its people, but not so much that I could fully understand it. I liked that. Ekt really felt totally foreign to me.

I related most to Rose in this final book, as she was so torn between her fascination and growing admiration for the Ekt people, and her desire to go home.

The final chapters felt a little melodramatic to me, which, while understandable considering the premise of the book, still kind of took away from the seriousness of the story. The ending felt a little too wrapped up without actually answering any questions about how Earth was restored to order. A few things were simply a little too convenient. Still, overall, I am glad I read it, and it's some seriously good sci-fi.

Fast paced, but also a little campy. I felt very little for the characters and the ending fell a little flat. I almost feel like this would have been better as a dualology than a trilogy.
