A delightfully fun little read - perfect for the summer!
Low angst little romp that was sweet, fluffy, and all things cute. Both the MCs were lovely and I appreciated the plus size and non binary rep. While it’s fated mates/insta love-y, I found there was enough time spent cementing their friendship first before delving into the monster smut.
Only complaint is that it wrapped up a bit too quickly for my liking. I felt the ending was rushed (and came with some increasingly obvious spelling/grammar issues), and could have used a few more chapters to solidify their HEA, especially with some detail on how Quinn’s old “regular” life wrapped up.

i honestly thought i was going to like this more than i did, but there were a few issues for me. 1) the nonbinary lead introduces themself to quinn as using they/them pronouns instantly but then he/him pronouns are used to refer to them later on in the story at points... it felt as if them being nonobinary was almost an afterthought in their character planning. 2) there were several moments where the pov all of a sudden changed from third person (the main pov used) to first person for like a sentence and then went back to 3rd.... it really took me out of the story. i feel like with some editing, these could easily be fixed, but they, sadly, negatively affected my enjoyment of the story overall.

Washed Up (With a Kraken) was a light read that flew by. The characters were sweet, and the story was easy to digest, and I appreciated the curvy female main character.
Unfortunately, there just wasn't much else going for this book.
There were clear editing mistakes throughout, everything from: using the wrong tense, random words in the middle of a sentence that were obviously not intended to be there, swapping from third person to first person between paragraphs, and a reference link ("[1]") left in.
Looking beyond the editing, the writing itself, though sweet, was often immature in style. Descriptiveness was sorely lacking (`They did X. They liked it when Y. They thought Z. "What about Z?"`). Additionally, some synonyms were downright ridiculous. "It looked like an expensive bathing suit like those expensive bathing suits you'd see on YouTube hauls."
The characters were very one-dimensional, moving between sobbing and giggling like it had never happened from one sentence to the next. His explanation for why he didn't tell her she was his fated mate didn't properly line up with his point of view when we first read it, which left you feeling bitter. Not that it really mattered because she was ready to forgive no matter what was said.
