it’s a pretty good story. there are times where you question the characters but overall it was cute. i feel like we don’t really see the characters in a relationship situation throughout the entire book though.
I started this book and literally could not put it down.
The tension and build up between Liam and Avery had me needing more until they finally got together, and even then it was so good that I found myself still needing more of them.
This book did a beautiful job at showing you how even when life chips away at you, you're not alone. Hell I'd love to have Liam backing me put some of my pieces back together.
It is a bit of a slow burn but once they get together Liam and Avery can't seem to keep their hands off each other.

I enjoy a book like this that keeps the story concise and it is clear that the author knew who their characters are meant to be. I wasn't frustrated or given whiplash like I often get when reading a book with a cast like this.
If you want a fast read that involves a lead singer and his best friend's sister, a girl he despises because he thinks he has her figured out, but who in the end is not at all who he thought she was...then give this book a read.
I really enjoyed watching Liam and Avery come together and appreciated that the author did not focus on the rock star lifestyle and persona that a majority of books similar to this choose to highlight. Not only do we get to see who Liam is and the way he genuinely cares for those closest to him, but the trust that Avery places in him near the end and the healing he helps her begin made this stand out.

all your favorite tropes.
This story took me through it. I really enjoyed myself while reading it. I devoured it in two days. There were some minor things that took away from it that I think were important factors. Like— I don’t think we got enough character arc for Liam. There was no explanation for the contempt he held for Avery at the beginning. Maybe it was just that he had feelings for best friend’s sister and felt like he couldn’t do anything about it. But i don’t think we got enough of that backstory. There were a few minor inconsistencies, but over all. i really enjoyed myself while reading this one. Band-romance, best friends sister/brothers best friend, slow-burn, found family.. just all the goodness.

Look, I enjoyed it and while it wasn't full of spice, the bit it had was *hot*... I do feel the need to go read some Austen or Bronte (any of the Brontes) to feel smarter now.
Also, song lyrics in books like this are cringey 99% of the time and this was no exception.

Every girl's dream of having the attention of a rock star! Forbidden romance and a great story with depth to the characters. Definitely recommend.

Okay, I'm in love with this book. Y'all the plot twists were breathtaking. Avery is so fucking amazing. Each character was so good, I hope that the future books in the series are about them. I can't wait for the other books in the series. The enemies to lovers trope was carried out so immaculately. It was written so well. I read this book in one sitting, It's almost 3 am as I'm writing. That's how good this book was. Would recommend.

Liam Lockwood and Avery Fox. Hmmm, I really liked this book.
Something that NEVER happens happened! You know when a heroine has a semi-irrelevant former love interest that no one gives a shit about and you don’t care for their relationship because you’re solely invested in the main relationship? Well I actually slightly shipped Avery and her ex-boyfriend. I thought Avery and Zayn were so cute! I didn’t ship them more than Liam and Avery but they were undeniably cute. That one scene where Avery had a major migraine and even though he was ignoring her, he couldn’t help but follow her to make sure she was okay.
Okay but that whole revelation about Avery’s father came out of left field. It felt a little strange and out of line with the storyline but it’s was intriguing none the less. Oh, and I meant the part about him being mentally ill.
To be completely transparent, I’m not sure how Avery forgave Liam so easily. That stunt he pulled where he got her drunk and throwing up her guts and then sent the video to everyone was fucking horrible. And as for Danny, I don’t know how he could allow Liam to do something so heinous to his own sister and still call him his “best friend”. Then again, it’s not really like Danny gave a shit about Avery, he was too busy blaming her for the negligence from their parents.
Putting aside Liam’s bullshit from the past, they were a nice couple. Better than nice. I LOVE the nickname Little Fox. It’s simply adorable. I loved the music aspect in this book and all the performances.
I had to include this quote. For context, this was after Avery sang for the first time in ages and Liam gave her the courage to go through with it. I love the rawness of this scene. I’m case you forgot, this was when they were sneaking behind Danny’s (Avery’s brother) back and he was in the crowd but Avery was so caught up in the moment that she completely forgot where she was and kissed Liam. I LIVE FOR THESE KIND OF MOMNETS!!!

Something changed the moment the song ended. I wasn’t staring into the eyes of my best friend’s sister. I was staring at a girl I’d never known I wanted. I’d definitely never expected to need her either, but there I was, needing her like I needed air to breathe.
Shit.
I was falling for Avery. Hard and fast.
Dropping my guitar between my legs, I braced for her arms that quickly wrapped around my neck. Her chest heaved against mine as she cried into my shoulder. I tried to smooth her hair back behind her ear, wanting to see her face again, but she only pulled away long enough to connect her lips with mine.
