A well written little sci-fi story. Reminded me of better episodes of Star Trek.

Going to give this book 3 stars right now. I really enjoyed it...the characters, the science (being a Biologist myself...the authors use of biochemistry, evolution, and cellular biology was cool), and the plot. Once I fully digest the story, I might change my rating to 4 stars.

Easy gripping read with lots of action, science and an interesting premise. I wasn't particularly taken with the ending.

Wow, brilliant thoroughly enjoyed every page, gripping, exciting, entertaining, a joy to read. The tension the author manages to create is palpable, at one point in the book I think I looked behind me, I had to put the light on. You read a lot of books, hoping to come across a good one but unfortunately most of them are mediocre at best, this novella is a diamond in the rough, truly shining above the rest. Excellent in all aspects story, characters and world building. I cannot praise this book enough, you should read it, read it now!

Discovered this little novella while scrolling through Kindle unlimited books. I usually really enjoy 'claustrophobic horror' books (or movies like Alien), so I figured I'd give it a go.

The story was very fast-paced and I read it in a couple hours. The action, mystery, and tension continue to ramp up and kept me engaged. It ended up being not nearly as scary as I thought it was leading towards, but finished in a very unique and cool way. Also I really appreciate the cover art, which is intentionally not at all in line with the tone of the book.

A fun first contact novella with a clever twist at the end. I read it quickly, and parts are quite suspenseful.

Though it's billed as a tribute to Philip K. Dick, it's really more of a tribute to Dan O'Bannon, as there are pretty liberal borrowings from Alien. Which I'm totally fine with--I just disliked the breaking the fourth wall parts where characters in the 23rd century remark on how similar their situation is to that movie. It pulled me out of the book every time.

I'm glad I stuck with it, because, as I said, it's suspenseful and entertaining. But for God's sake, people: hire a copy editor. They will save you from a plague of comma splices in your early chapters that might drive readers away. They will tell you when you have someone saying they admire another character's tenacity twice in the same paragraph. They are worth whatever you spend.
