This was a good quick read. Loved the story and the characters.  Very imaginative and so many cliff hangers and things I did not see coming.  Some parts of the book felt like it was too fast paced, but overall it was a good read.  I feel like it could have been a duology or a trilogy with much more detail, but enjoyed it for what it was.  I read this as a “palate cleanser” between reading massive books in two series I am reading and was perfect for that! Highly recommended.

I absolutely adored this book. It grabbed me from the very beginning, and held onto me the whole time. The characters were so strong and well written, relatable and engaging. The story kept me guessing as to what was gonna happen next, how was it all going to end. Definitely a must read for those looking for a well paced YA fantasy with excellent character development.

I found this book so intriguing. The thing that kept me reading the book was how the characters interact with each other and how everyone had something they wanted. In the end there is also a message that even the lowest can go to the top.

A debut YA fantasy that's also a standalone! It really does accomplish all the story beats without needing more than one book, although I really wish the story was a bit longer. Additionally, it does fall into some predictability troupes which did bring my rating down a bit. That being said, I'm interested in seeing where this author heads in the future because I did enjoy her writing style.

I received an ecopy of this through netgalley; however, all opinions are my own.

I am not the biggest fantasy reader.
that being said, I really wanted to like this book.
(I didn't)
I'm not going to go into detail about a synopsis and whatnot.
Nameless Queen felt, to me, like something straight out of Wattpad. Coin is unlikeable (imho, I'm sorry Rebecca) and her story was haphazard. the worldbuilding? shaky at best. I struggled to get through this.
that being said- if a sequel WERE to be written, it would definitely go much smoother than Nameless Queen as the world had already been set up.

i couldnt even get past 50-70 pages...it was too boring. And too much of a dramatic character shift...idk. Just really wasnt feeling it. And it was YA to begin with, I am starting to phase out of this genre...So pretty much dnf

This was an amazing debut!! Man if you don't have this book on your TBR you need to add this one right now!!!! I really loved the snark that is in this title. It take a very serious topic and kind of makes it just a little lighter.

This story about a world where if you could be what is called Nameless and have no rights and no home, is one that I haven't encountered before and I have to say that it worked well. The twist kept me going and the reveal shocked me to no end.

I could not put this one down and I loved how it ended and just everything about it. It was a wonderful title about family, finding where you belong, and accepting those who are different. The pacing was well done for a debut and I can not wait to see what McLaughlin does next. A definite must read for 2020!!

I bought this book on a whim and I have to be honest: I loved it. The story was way more intense and powerful than I expected, and given how insane 2020 has been, was exactly what I wanted. It carries a strong message with complicated characters and endearing growth.

Coin has great development throughout, and despite her early abrasiveness, became someone I rooted for. The side characters all had incredible moments and while there was no romance, I was still moved by this story of love and friendship in adversity.

The writing carried the story well, and there were some deeply emotional sections where the author’s passion and message shone through. I was invested the whole time.

Definitely a relevant book and one I recommend!
