I stuck it out to the end. Very much a book of the 80s/90s and a bit hard to relate too.

I couldn’t get hooked. I love her teen fic but these characters were flat and their stories mainly revolved around the men in their lives. It was boring.

I got this book out of the library because I love Summer Sisters. This book is nowhere near as good as that one. Too bad.

Took some effort to follow all the change character point of views but all characters really give insight to what parents and children go through after the divorce.

Wow this book was like watching a train wreck but yet I couldn't stop reading. It sort of reminded me of the few episodes I saw of The Bachelor/The Bachelorette in college - it was hard to believe these people were really this stupid and selfish. They are so awful that I kept hoping something terrible would happen to them, but for some reason I liked it! Judy Blume is just that amazing apparently.
There is no reason why I should have liked this. The only thing I can think of is that the two teen girls saved it. The book is told from their perspectives and their mothers', with the focus on the mothers. The girls are much more sympathetic and give you a break from the crazy ladies. Plus, it's much more acceptable for a teen girl to act like an idiot and think only of herself than for a 40-year-old woman to do so.

This book made me immensely glad that my parents are still happily married, as am I. It shows how horrible divorce is and how hard it is on kids (not saying there aren't reasons for divorce, or that no one should get divorced, just that it's messy). I can't imagine it. And it must be awful to be a parent and have your former spouse move your kids to another state. Or to be a kid and suddenly have to move in with a step family. It seems like it would be really hard to deal with. Again, not that any of those things are wrong but I don't think I would have handled that well as a teenager.

Quick read. Judy Blume is Judy Blume. It felt like Starring Sally J. Freeman As Herself for adults. Not that that's a bad thing, but it's not particularly revolutionary either.
