What a throwback! I have not read these books before, but was super into the tv-series as a teen.

First of all, if you want a piece of great teen literature, close this, This is not it, this is trash. I am also not sure if you will enjoy this as much as I did if you did not watch or read this as a teen. But I did! A great guilty pleasure read.

I finished it in a few hours and it was very relaxing. Some of these characters are horrible, mostly Emily’s mom and Ben. Now that I think of it almost every character in this book is a little problematic. Aria wanting to date her teacher? Hannah pressuring her boyfriend to have sex? Ezra calling Aria drunk after breaking contact? I wish these things were reflected on more by these characters, I feel like this was done more in the show.

You get sucked into all the girl's storylines. What terrible text are they getting next and what stupid thing are they going to do now? And most importantly: Who is A? I will most likely read this whole series to find out ;)

There was one scene that was too problematic to accept: The Emily and Maya scene in the photo booth. In no way is talking about self-harm romantic. I don’t think they included this in the series, so that’s good at least.

So many differences between the tv-series and books! (mostly in favor of the series)

Also, these doll covers are iconic. Both great and horrendous.

I decided to get back into a Pretty Little Liars phase by starting to watch the show again and I decided to read the books. This was such a fast read and was fun, but definitely not the best quality of writing or even story telling. This has fun twists and turns and the show follows the book pretty well.

“Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.” It’s the nostalgia for me. I was a devoted fan to PLL went the show first aired and watched the weekly premieres with so much excitement during my high school/early college years. This series is a guilty pleasure/addiction read and I’m kind of excited to see where it goes.

I enjoyed this book overall. It was a fun read and enough to make me want to continue on with the series. It is very similar to the pilot episode of the TV show so I was a little bored. I felt some of the references to brands and pop culture were a little much but did add to the atmosphere of the book. If you are a fan of the TV show I would recommend picking up this book.

I started watching the show before I started reading the books, and I really like the books. The show follows along with the book, which kinda makes me happy. But I have a feeling that A is someone different than the books.

I started watching the show so nothing came as a surprise.
Entertaining and light reading.
Guilty pleasure I guess.
