Mah.

Tutto molto vago e superficiale.

È facile immaginare come andrà a finire, sappiamo già quasi tutto sin dall'inizio.

Per me pollice in giù.

even though lots of things that happened in this book were deeply disturbing I was captivated from the beginning and towards the end couldn’t put it down. I also like how the story many focused on their lives after rather than us only see the terrible part of their lives

Girl A, Alexandra, was brave and saved (some of) her siblings from the perils of an abusive home. As a novel, I loved the premise and found it fascinating to learn about how the situation got so bad for a controlling father and submissive mother. Lex’s father submerging himself in religion to the point of abuse is the most interesting storyline throughout the novel.

Ultimately though, reading through the story I kept thinking “where is this going?” It felt like the desire to share the past of the Gracie family, but the present was uneventful.

Timelines were confusing, changing randomly within chapters. The character development was lacking for many of her siblings, and the ending just felt like the author ran out of things to say. So many unanswered questions.

I enjoyed reading this novel enough, but I’m not sure I would recommend it to others.

DID NOT FINISH: 21%

I read the first 2 chapter (72 pages) and could not get into it, too much chopping and changing, poorly written and overall chaotic. I hate DNFing but I couldn't continue with this book.

DNF @80%. Could not stay connected. Found the story to be boring, difficult to follow, and uneventful. I hoped to finish it, but just couldn’t keep interest.

+ love a crazy religious family cult escape story
+ plot kept you hooked
+ loveable characters
+ adequate fuel for misandry

- too many timelines and no spacing between them so she'll be like "i'm having sex with this man and now i'm six years old at school and now i'm at a wedding" and you're like wait how old are you
- also annoying thing with multiple timelines is you get into a certain plot thread and then author gets bored and just. never mentions it again. like i guess that she's supposed to have forgotten some stuff from her life because trauma but my god, see SOMETHING through
- the thing that i guess is supposed to be a plot twist was super dumb and unnecessary
- said plot twist tied into the lacklustre ending
