I enjoyed the pace of this book. It’s a quick read. Very sad too.

Very dark, very intense, heartbreaking and just brilliant. I couldn’t put it down.

Not sure which book is more grim- this or Verity

This is a tough one for me to rate. The first half I found engaging/intriguing, but I was able to read it pretty casually. The second half was gripping, and Dean is an amazing writer, but I found myself so heartbroken and deeply disturbed by what the siblings endured that I almost wish I didn't have the images inside my head. Dean wasn't especially graphic in any of the descriptions of what happened -- it's largely filtered through Lex's memory. But the ambiguity sometimes made it worse, in an odd way. It's a brilliantly written book but emotionally devastating. You might want to save this one until you're in an especially emotionally sturdy place.

I loved it. I just wished that the author  explore more on the point of view of the other characters.
