I love Nezha so much, it physically hurts. Actually, this might be the reason why I liked this book even more than the first part. It also definitely helped that stuffTM happend to Rin, that will forever justify all of her rage to me.

I am so heartbroken, I loved the last "happy" chapter where they got drunk and had fun. I knew a betrayal was coming because I got spoilerd but I convinced myself that it would be that Rin leaves Arlong. I am mad at Nezha but I also... can understand him in some way? I think he's just very naïve and really believes in the Republic. I bet it hurt him too, having to betray Rin. He also really cares about the people, he faced his dad when Rin was still much more concerned with winning this war then the fate of the southeners.

If you enjoy Poppy war (first book) definitely read this one. The stories continue, a war between good/bad, right and wrong, responsibilities, love/hate, danger/peace. The book has all. Red. It.

If you are looking for a genuinely morally gray main character, you found her. I love Rin but struggle to stomach some of her actions and it makes me love her more. The end of this book felt like someone picked up a painting I had been staring at for a long time, flipped it, and made me realize I didn’t even see the focus of the painting at all. This is a wonderful look at war, dehumanizing the enemy, and how we justify the unforgivable.
