Good Zombie Apocalypse

I like dystopian genre, but zombies aren’t my favorite. With that disclaimer, this wasn’t bad. Beginning was a bit predictable, but as it developed, it had a decent story.

This is the type of book that makes you think about what you would do in an apocalyptic situation. Virus hits in your hometown, you need to get somewhere else, what would you do? This story opens up ALL kinds of topics and the author does not shy away from them. She borders on horror at times with some of her descriptions, and I had to put the book down at times. It's just that realistic. Broken World is a perfect title. The characters all have their distinct selves and there is not a slow part of this story. Strong 4.5.

These are the kind of people you want on your side when the world goes to hell. These are the kind of people who will survive. Who will do whatever it takes to make it. That’s not such a bad thing.

Good zombie story! Starts out slow, but that's only because this one starts in the beginning, before the dead started rising. You get to go through the confusion and shock with the characters. The story and the action pick up, and it's blow after blow.
I give this credit for having a heroine who is a stripper, and is perfectly fine with it. Though Vivian seems to be a problem for most. She is selfish, and only comes out of that when it suits her. She freezes and cries a lot for a girl who "doesn't cry". I know, I know, Zombie apocalypse and all.
SpoilerThe major part of the story is finding her daughter, but when she gets her, she doesn't really pay her much attention til she's dying.

Axl is the saving grace here. He grows on you throughout the story. The rough redneck is sweet. I REALLY wish we had gotten this story from his POV, or at least some scenes.

On to the next book!

DNF- One character
Spoiler (The rich a$$hole--I wanted to throttle him from the time he was introduced)
ruined it for me. Just couldn't go any further.

This was a reasonably well written book of its genre. Unfortunately thats just not my genre so its never going to hit a 4 or 5 star status in my rating. It was pacy, easy to read with a real cast of characters just too many zombies for my liking
