Amazing book for those who feel overwhelmed with things, work, foods, drinking, everything. True facts how we become obsessed with something in order to forget true problems or when we have no clue how to find the reason for our mood and situation.

It inspired me to do few changes in life, I think it can do the same for other readers.

Great fast read! Taught me interesting perspectives not just on consumerism and living with less, but also about improving oneself while also dealing with typical adult hardships - relationships, careers, family changes, etc.

I feel like if this book had been marketed differently, I would have enjoyed my experience reading it more. As it was, I was expecting it to lean more into how she managed her no-spend year, but in reality, it was more memoir. That being said, she had a very interesting experience that was worth reading about. I was left wanting more in the end, but I feel confident I can get more by finding her blog.

I was impressed and inspired by Cait’s journey to live better with less. My takeaway from this was not how much money she saved or how much she got rid of but how she found out who she really was beneath all the stuff. It’s a wonderful feeling to be unfettered by “stuff” and enjoy the freedom of being your true self. I’m so happy for her and will definitely use some of her wisdom in my own life.

Not trying to offend, everyone has their vices, but the author obviously has problems controlling her impulses. Throughout her life, this seems to have manifested itself in binge-drinking, binge-eating, binge-watching and binge-shopping. I find interesting how the author manages to reign in one behaviour after the other, which is commendable. If you are someone who has a similar struggle, I think this book could be good for you, but it won't really help you in finding a solution the problem, but rather companionship. I can't really relate though, I would describe myself as someone who doesn't indulge enough and can be too stingy about buying things for myself.

The whole book felt more like a long diary about a year in the author's life, than about the topic of shopping addiction. Many topics got more attention, than the title and description would lead you to think, for example her (past) addiction to alcohol as well as a loooong section about the divorce of her parents. All in all it felt like padding the length, instead of getting to the point. Maybe that was a case of binge-writing...
