Eliza Cook, a teenager, walks into an FBI office after midnight and asks for Lucy Thorne before confessing to the cold blooded murder of a 12-year-old boy. It's an open and shut case, by most standards. But not by Lucy's. With no motive and nothing but silence after the factual confession, Lucy feels driven to the small community of Knox Hollow in Idaho to figure out Why. But the deeper she goes, the farther the answers seem to be, and the more bodies are found hiding.

I really loved the cast of this. We alternate points of view but don't become lost in them. The timeline also alternates, giving you just enough of the story to eagerly await the next bit. Lucy is definitely a favorite, but Molly, Eliza's bestfriend, is also a really good one. I think that Labuskes really delves deep into the psychology of everything, especially the cultish aspects.

Really loved this. Found it quite unique and couldn't put it down. The cult aspects were very interesting and surprised me. It felt very much like a small town that doesn't like outsiders.

Really loved it. It was twisty and turny and kept me hooked and guessing. Would definitely recommend. Definitely would read more from this author.
