Meh. I love the plot devices, time traveling, alien abductions, all to tell the story, Vonnegut's own, of the bombing of Dresden. It's Horrifying and Bizzare and Well-Written, but I can't say I was blown away.

reread this to see if i'd love it as much as i did when and i first read it in high school. didn't hit the same since i think i'm a little less cynical, but still fantastic. i'll probably get billy pilgrim's epitaph tattooed at some point.

I read this originally some years ago and enjoyed it at that time, but the emotional impact I'd expect from the greatest antiwar book ever written wasn't there. It seemed no more momentous this time, though it is a good book, thoughtful and occasionally funny.

I was hesitant to start this after DNFing catch-22 but the inclusion of sci-fi turned it from war satire to batshit insane. The second half of the book gets funnier too.
