This volume is one big extended fight scene, more or less, covering an epic chase and brawl between the Hawks and the Black Dog Knights with their fearsome leader.

I think it was a pretty good extended fight scene, and the first proper Guts v. Demon fight in a fair while. Now we get to see the real results of all of Gut's efforts over several volumes: Going from a place where Zod was this insurmountable threat, to one where Guts can just barely stand toe to toe with another (lesser) demon. He's got a ways to go, but wow what a performance!

I'm dinging this one a bit because, to be frank, Casca was naked for much longer then she probably needed to be and it weirded me out a bit. I never like when Casca is depicted more as "women in distress about to get raped", and this entry is heavy on that.

Oh boy I wasn’t into that dog man demon freak but really glad I got to see my boy the immortal Nosferatu Zodd again and this time furrier and goatier? I hope Zodd doesn’t have a huge betrayal and just keeps being a somewhat ambivalent watcher in many ways like us, dear readers.

Getting back into the supernatural.  Hints at Griffith's future, the Griffith we see in the first volume.  Wyald is a pretty awful character.
