Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield shares a story of him growing up and watching the first moon landing on TV. As a child who was scared of the dark, this event had a huge impact on him.

Entertaining audio, read by the author. It is a book for children but just as much fun for adults as well. Especially loved the song at the end, great listen.

Gorgeous. Starts out relatable - one child's fixation (imaginative space) and fear (of the dark and its shadowy critters) - and show  the effects on his whole family. Ends with him working through his fear thanks to the inspiring 1969 moon landing.

Co-written by a real life astronaut, Chris Hadfield. (What's the Canadian version of an astronaut?) The last 4 pages include photos, a brief biography of Chris and Canada's space exploration program. Chris' quick message to readers is touching! "...The dark is for dreams - and morning is for making them come true."

Astronaut Chris Hadfeld writes of a semi-autobiographical account of how the child goes from being afraid of the dark to having the imagination to dream beyond.

Lovely illustrations. A great way to introduce young readers to Canada’s most famous (in my opinion) astronaut. There is also a wonderful message about facing your fears, dreaming big, and reaching for the stars.

We love The Fan Brothers in my house so the illustrations in this true story are being poured over with absolute glee. It's also about space and astronauts (an actual, real life astronaut) so the rugrats are very entertained.

When I was a kid, there were two things I wanted to be more than anything else in the world. An astronaut or an archaeologist. I ended up as a librarian, but there are still lingering dreams of going into space or finding a spectacular ancient specimen whilst vising Egypt. This book speaks to that little part of me that still longs to be an astronaut and to walk on the Moon. If you have any budding astronauts in your family (especially one that might be afraid of the dark!) share this with them. It's beautifully illustrated by The Fan Brothers.
