فکر کنم بین تمام ناول‌های چینی که خوندم، خوندن این یکی بیشتر از همه طول کشید. یه چیزی تقریبا بین دو تا دو و نیم سال. و شاید همین امر باعث شد که من توی طول مسیر، برای خوندنش از هیجان بیفتم. سایه داستان پسری به اسم جیانگ چنگه که با یه اتقافی، زندگیش و مسیر اون به کل دستخوش تغییر می‌شه. اتفاقی که به تبعش، خونه، خانواده،شهر، مدرسه و دوست‌هاش رو از دست می‌ده و حالا توی یه شهر کوچیک پا به خونه و خانواده و مدرسه‌ای می‌ذاره که از اول متعلق به اونجا بوده اما باهاشون بیگانه‌ترینه. تلاش جیانگ چنگ برای وفق دادن خودش با شرایط پیش رو، سخت و دشواره. غمی که روی زندگی این پسر سایه انداخته، سرمای دنیایی که اون رو از خودش رونده و اون همه بی عدالتی و تنهایی، دردی رو بهش القا کرده که هم‌زمان باهاش، تو هم دردهایی رو حس می‌کنی. دردهایی که شخص خودت متحمل‌شونه، نه شخصیت داستان.و این، ویژگی زیبای سایه است.
توی زندگی مدرسه‌ای جدید جیانگ چنگ، یه نفر به اسم گوفی پیدا می‌شه که فقط اسم یه همکلاسی نیست. جیانگ چنگ نمی‌دونه که قراره معنی خیلی از چیزهای باارزش رو توی زندگیش با اون یه نفر درک کنه و نمی‌دونه که چطور، آروم آروم بهم گره خوردن، به چیزی توی زندگیش تبدیل می‌شه که اون رو به آدم متفاوتی تبدیل می‌کنه. به کسی که رشدش رو در گرو عشق، همدلی و کمک بهش، به دست آورده.
بیشتر از دو سوم حجم کتاب، روند شیرین و زیبایی داره؛ در عین حال شدت غمش هم مچاله کننده‌ی قلبتون می‌شه. روند پیدا کردن دوستی که تو رو از تنهایی بیرون بکشه، و پیدا کردن احساس تعلق به جایی، که می‌دونستی هیچکس انتظارت رو نمی‌کشه، دوستی که از زمان و احساسات فراتر می‌ره و چیزهایی رو در وجود تو بیدار می‌کنه تا نفس‌ها و ثانیه‌هات رو به شوق حضور و وجودش بگذرونی، زیبایی این داستانه. خوندن از روزمره آدم‌ها، وقتی پلات رازآمیز و هیجان انگیز آنچنانی در کار نباشه شاید به نظر سخت بیاد (هرچند پلات سایه واقعا خوبه ولی ممکنه در ظاهر نشون نده.) اما این داستان ارزشش رو داره.
تنها ایرادی که به سایه وارده، برای من یک سوم نهایی داستان بود که انگار نویسنده دلش نمی‌خواست بیشتر به عمق احساسات شخصیت‌هاش بپردازه و کوتاهی چپترها توی ذوقم می‌زد. یه موضوع مهمی توی آرک آخر مطرح شده بود که من توقع داشتم موقع خوندنش، شکستن قلبم رو به بدترین شکل ممکن حس کنم، ولی نه. از احساسی ترین و بزنگاه این رابطه، من چیز درخور و آنچنانی دریافت نکردم. که خب، این قضیه واقعا ناراحتم کرد.
پایان داستان شاد بود، اما یه شادی دور غیر قابل لمس برای من. تهش لبخند زدم، دلتنگ گوفی و جیانگ چنگ و گو میائو شدم و حسرت خوردم. دوستش داشتم و لایق چیزهای بهتر از این بود.

“May we both be as brave as each other.”
The thing about SAYE that sets it apart from other novels in my eyes is how much it makes *me* want to fall in love. To be able to experience even half of what Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei have with each other would be a blessing....
Such a captivatingly beautiful and soul-healing story of two boys finding solace and hope in each other. Wuzhe is the master of writing snarky, clever banter and evoking emotions in me in ways that usually wind up with me crying a river on the cold tile floor of my bathroom LOL. I can never get enough of her writing style—the smooth flow of her words keep me hooked and hungry for more.
As Wuzhe wrote in the author’s notes after the extras, “没有谁的生活会一直完美，但无论什么时候，都要看着前方，满怀希望就会所向披靡。” (“No one’s life is invariably perfect, but no matter what, you must always look ahead; with a heart filled with hope, you’re invincible.”). It’s a much-needed reminder to keep your head up and believe in a better future, regardless of your current circumstances.
I will undoubtedly be rereading the novel and relistening to the audio drama for years and years to come.

I have read 95 chapters so far and I am really really liking it. The characters are amazing, the romance is so sweet and makes my heart full. I am desperately waiting for the next chapters to be translated so that I can feast my heart and my eyes again.
Also, I love Jiang Cheng and Gu Fei so much. Such well-written, three-dimensional characters. A special shout out to their class teacher - Mr. Xu.
This novel so far has been heart-meltingly sweet, gut-wrenchingly sad, and still has made my days worthwhile.
Praying to the translation gods for their blessings. Let's hope I get to read it soon. :)

Could not wait for a year to read the official translation so read a very poor translated version. And I am so happy I did. As it was everything I wanted from the book. I loved every second of it. I can not wait for the official translation to happen and I will be buying this one for my collection.
