Posseses common themes found in most fantasy romance. Writing a little repetitive. Narrator of audio book was not my cup of tea (switched to traditional reading after a few chapters). Found it easy to invest in the characters. Wolayna is a little slow to figure things out which was frustrating. However, Wolayna is a pirate, and that's bad ass.
3.4/5.0

Well I was so disappointed in this book. Was really hoping that it would work itself out but was not able to connect with the characters.
The lack of developing storyline was painful. The oh so very vague hints on the curse and castle and crows was not enough to keep my interest. Should have dropped a bit more into that part, a little backstory to fill it in but nope.
She was so annoying, and just don't see it getting better in the second book.
I mean how MANY times can you repeat her losing the love of her life and life on ship. Every time I read that I could only think that she needed a word count to make her writing quota for the day.
Ugh.

DID NOT FINISH: 55%

There's some interesting magic going on with the whole crow thing, but that's about the only positive thing I can say about this book.

The characterization needs some serious work. The FMC does not feel solid at all. The author attempts to give her an emotional backstory, but the FMC lacks a convincing voice and therefore I just didn't feel what the author wanted me to feel. The romance between the main characters and their sexual attraction come seemingly out of nowhere with little to no evidence in the narrative as to why the fmc suddenly wants to sleep with the MMC. Her motivations and emotions change sometimes on the same page and the narrative gets very repetitive.

The grammar is also pretty terrible. I'm not usually very strict about this kind of thing, but the sentences are so run on that by the end of many of them, it feels as if the author themselves even lost track of of where they were going with it and many of the sentences are blatantly incorrect and difficult to understand.

I really struggled to get through this one and ended up just reading a good amount of it because I had paid for it. Finally, when I felt dread at the thought of returning to it I knew it was time to put it down.

There's potential in the MMC but I think the author needs to practice some more before publishing again.

Not that original... It was ok. Nothing bad, nothing great. Doesn't stand out.
