I will forever love the badass female characters that Sarah J Maas creates and expresses in her novels. Celaena is such a honed weapon, and it is so cool to read the way that she works.
I absolutely loved the romance arc with Chaol, and it was my favorite thing out of this entire book. From them both trying and failing to stay on their sides of the ‘line’ Chaol drew for himself, to their cute hangouts & runs, to the birthday scene on the rooftop, I positively ate that shit up. When she turned on him after poor Nehemia’s demise, my heart broke, and it positively shattered at Chaol’s realization that nothing was ever going to be the same. I’m so happy that they’ve reconciled a little, but my heart was so full & happy when Chaol was describing her as his future wife like ughhhhhh why couldn’t we have just kept that going… I have to say I love Fleetfoot, she is so cute! And Mort, lol. How is the king so trusting?! Dummy. I’m interested in seeing how this whole magic thing goes for Dorian, and I’m so happy the three of them have had some good(?) trio scenes again that will hopefully improve and reoccur throughout the series. Anyways, I’m not prepared to watch everything fall to shit & burn, so hopefully all the other books just detail Celaena jumping off that ship, swimming back to Chaol, & them running away together to experience a million cute lovey adventures with no pain, suffering, or heartbreak. Of course, the lands & magic would just *poof* be saved before hand, but then it’ll just be lovey-dovey, right?! I unfortunately was spoiled for the grand reveal at the end, but I am very interested in seeing how this all plays out.
I really enjoyed it!

I finished the first book in the Throne of Glass series in July, and it instantly became one of my top reads ever! I bought Crown of Midnight as soon as possible, but didn't really have high hopes for it, and ended up procrastinating reading it. I finaly did, and honestly? It was better than the first one. The plot twists were amazing and blew my mind and the romance between Chaol and Celaena was perfect (while it lasted 😕).
The writing is elite (I totally thought Chaol would run AWAY, not go through the portal!).
10/10 recommend, I only removed 0.5 stars because I wanted Chaolaena to last (lmao)

A slow start and a great end - classic SJM really!
I loved the twists, I love the characters and the mysteries that aren’t rushed to be told, it’s so intriguing that you can’t stop reading - except for the first 150 pages.

Did I understand a single thing that happened in this book? No. Did I enjoy every second of it? Yes.

That ending was so predictable. If 1+1=2, then of course Celaena is Aelin… Idk why Chaol reacted like that at the end tbh.

Also, speaking of Chaol, his and Celaena’s romance felt so forced. I much preferred her with Dorian (please give him another chance 😪). Their relationship just felt like another plot device that was created to keep the story ‘interesting.’ Did I still eat up their scenes together? Of course I bloody did.

All those things about the Wyrdkeys went straight over my fat head. I have no clue what’s going on but I loved it. I rated it lower than TOG because I didn’t enjoy it as much.
