I think this was a great second book of the series. It really had its own Two Towers vibe, which made me very happy. Everything that is revealed throughout the pages just makes me so excited to see what happens next! And Dorian…oh how I love Dorian!

I am so intrigued by that ending!!! Honestly, I found most of this book to be pretty slow but the last 20% reaaally picked up the pace
This felt like the end of the first part of this series and I have a feeling we’ll finally start learning more about Celaena and this world in the next book, especially after all those final reveals!!

The plot twist at the end was pretty predicable, but I did

feel horrible about Nehemia's death. I don't really like that the only POC in the book is killed as character development, however. And if Maas had killed off Fleetfoot as well, I WOULD HAVE committed felonies.

However, this still just feels like every basic fantasy series from the time period and I don't super understand why this series is regarded as the best of Maas' work.

Great book! I really enjoyed reading it and seeing the characters develop even more. There were some good twists in this one that I haven’t seen coming. I truly don’t know what’s going to happen next but I‘m here for the ride!
