The main focus of the book is sex- with no rationality as to when. The characters could be running for their life and still find a way to stick it in. It makes absolutely no sense as to why the author thought that in the most CONFUSING times to add intense sex scenes. Someone could be bleeding out- they're fucking. Someone could be under the influence- they're fucking. Every dream? Involves sex. This is character based, but definitely not in the sense of their minds, but their bodies.
The real power struggle is the author trying to balance plot, character development, steamy scenes, emotional trauma, depth, you name it, they're trying to add it.
But it's like dumping every flavor of soda into your fountain drink only to realize you filled it to the brim with ice and left no room for the intended content.

Vi la recomendación de este libro por un reel y me llamó la atención cómo empieza todo, así que decidí leerlo sin saber mucho de la trama. Sweet Obsession trata sobre Ayla, que una noche en un club, ve que desde un auto intentan dispararle a un descoocido (Marcus) y, ella sin pensarlo, se cruza entre las balas y él y recibe los disparos. Luego de ese suceso, ella pierde uno de sus brazos y dos años más tarde, se reencuentra con Marcus, Teo y Ryland quienes también estuvieron aquella noche.
El libro engancha desde el principio y te deja queriendo saber más y más sobre estos tres misteriosos amigos. La trama fluye naturalmente y eso hace que la historia sea fácil de seguir. Hubieron muchas cosas cuestionables que hicieron los tres, pero, al ser el libro que es, no me incomodó demasiado porque sabía que era un libro dark. Lo que si me sorprendió es que tuviera reverse harem, como les dije, comencé el libro solamente guiándome de lo que vi en el reel y (como adivinarán) no hablaba nada de eso. A pesar de eso, no me incomoda leer estos tipos de libros si hay química entre los protagonistas, sin embargo, solamente sentí la química entre Ayla y Marcus 😕
Algo que también dejaron en claro los tres amigos es que ellos estaban en algo turbio y peligroso, porque, la misma Ayla lo pudo deducir debido a cómo los conoció en el club, pero a pesar de eso, Ayla no quiso creerle a su conciencia y pensar que ellos no estaban en nada malo. Así que sabrán que cuando Ayla descubre la verdad sobre ellos, no debió de sorprenderse tanto como lo hizo.
PD1: Le subí 0.5 ⭐ porque el último capítulo estuvo tenso
PD2: No planeaba leer el segundo porque no me gustó mucho, pero con ese cliffhanger 🙀
