An incredible ending to a well-written trilogy. Lee has put everything into this book, and I couldn't put it down for more than a few minutes before the urge to continue reading took over. It's been a long time since I read something that enveloped me so entirely. This was a fantastic read, and I want to experience the trilogy all over again. There are so many flags in this copy I have, so many passages that spoke to me personally or left me breathless. I love Adrian, and my adoration for Monty and Felicity have only grown. I can't wait to reread this and the first two books again. So well done. I can't recommend this series to my friends enough. So, so lovely. I closed the cover feeling nothing but love.

A wonderful end to what is my new favourite series of books! This book's main theme is all about mental health, in particular putting a spotlight on anxiety. A someone who suffers from anxiety, it was a very realistic depiction (almost felt like a call out at some points) and it was no suprise to find out the author also suffers. Adrian was relatable and we also got back my beloved Monty to join in the adventure! It was nice to see where the characters were now and how things had progressed over the last 20 years. Also a lot better paced than the other two books with the adventure starting within the first few chapters instead of half way through. Only nitpick was that Adrian (and a couple other people) seemed way too comfortable with Monty's sexuality for the 1700s. I guess this was to further the Monty plot without the homophobia but it was a little too unbelivable for me to have Adrian find out and within days Monty was openly making jokes to him about gay sex. Also there wasn't very much Percy in the book and I would have loved to get to know Louisa more. But other than that, very enjoyable!

I cannot recommend this highly enough. I’m obsessed with books that are shameless in their representation, books where the characters are queer and disabled and Black and there’s no apology for the absolute cornucopia of human diversity. Adrian is a character I relate to very very deeply and many points of this book were hard to read but dear God it was worth it. Lee is a master of life after survival stories, and I am incredibly jealous of her talent.

The degree to which I identify with Adrian is slightly worrying to say the least

I liked this book. I thought it threaded the needle on “is this a book with magic or without it” better than the first one did. I found Adrian very relatable in a way that was to my own detriment— sometimes seeing one’s own mental illness depicted isn’t exactly fun— but it was a compassionate portrayal.
