I picked this up thinking the two characters would be in the lodge majority of the book that’s not the case. I was bored and it wasn’t what I pictured from the synopsis

Not nearly enough snowed in wintery goodness, far too many teen pregnancies. Felt like it was from 1995, but it was published in 2007. Oh and definitely prolife subtext. With a cop hero because that's what we need in 2020.

The 2nd book in the Lakeshore Chronicles. Haunted by the secrets and betrayals in the past, a bakery owner falls for the town police chief. Again, very well done, excellent secondary characters and subplot about a pregnant teen.

another good romance from Wiggs. I like her contemporary romances”

So Susan Wiggs’s historicals are amazing, but her contemporaries are not my faves. I read this very fast. I really liked Jenny and Rourke. I didn’t like the recipes and how many flashbacks there were. It wasn’t that christmassy but the small town feel was real.

I read this book in a single day. Again the characters were fully formed and interesting and I loved reading more about the families and all the different members and their stories. Looking forward to reading the next instalment when it arrives!
