4.5 stars rounded down. This book probably fell back between book 1 and 3 in terms of ranking. (My ranking is now 4, 3, 5, 1, 2) I really did enjoy how much time we got to spend with Jamie and Claire and not have one of them in mortal danger. It was a LONG book....probably a little longer than it strictly needed to be. But still, a LOT happened. There were a few little nuggets that this books dropped that really added to the overarching plot of the series. The emotion of the characters was especially great. I continue to love the characters so much more in the books than in the show, in general. And DANG that last scene in Ch 110 with Roger and Jamie really growing closer <3 . We're really setting up for the Revolution!! I'm so excited to keep going.

I'm trying to be honest here, therefore 4 stars instead of 5.
I thought I will never get myself to start a 1400-page book with some not very inspiring reviews. But then I at last watched Outlander series and I just needed to continue following the life of Jamie and Claire. And perhaps just because of it I enjoyed this book so much. It was simply such a pleasure to be in their world once again!
Almost at the end of the book I had a revelation that I actually can't tell what of significance happened in those 1400 pages. And nevertheless I don't regret a minute of it.
For fairness sake, I have to admit that some parts I just skimmed over (like most of Brianna and Roger chapters - thanks God that he appeared to have matured somewhat towards the end of the book). And in some parts I melted all over - Jamie and Claire's is definitely the most epic love story there is!!!

Can't decide to have some break or lunge in Book 6 at once.

This book could have been 1/4 the length and not lost anything at all. Took me ages to get through bc it was so unnecessary.
Have loved the series to this point, but this one was a struggle.
