Inspiring and inspired. A heart breaking, honest, and delicious work from a gifted writer.
This was an exquisite memoir and observation about a life lived. It was deeply resonant for me. I bought three copies for gifts - one each for my sisters and another for a friend.

Only made it through a couple chapters before getting bored. The letter to her dad did make me cry, though.
I listened to the audiobook and highly recommend it. Hearing MLP read her own words gave the letters an extra layer of life.
I am not worthy of reviewing this queen's memoir.
It is poetic and beautiful and lovely, though at times almost overly so that I was like "...wait what?"
10/10 audiobook because it's read by her.

So many actors decide to jump over and write and I sometimes want to encourage them to jump right back. Not the case with Mary-Louise Parker's book Dear Mr. You. I absolutely loved it!
Parker's writing style is unique and she wove in her own voice to each chapter. I loved most of the chapters and like other readers, I found so many lines or entire paragraphs worthy of remembering. It's a shame I didn't read it on the Kindle so I could highlight and save those quotes for the future.
Because the writing was so different, it felt almost like I was reading poetry. I read it slowly on purpose so I could savor every line and let what Parker was saying sink in a little more. I highly recommend this book!

A really unexpected surprise. Her writing is so pure and gripping and I really enjoyed the format of letters to all of the different Misters that she has encountered in her life. That last chapter left me with chills. Really, really beautiful.
I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely this book was. The letters were all perfect and poignant.
