A super interesting book that blends science and humanity really well.

I have to say though, I wouldn’t recommend listening to the audiobook because a white woman does awful and pretty racist caricatures of the voices of black people and an Asian woman.

I did not know who Henrietta Lacks was until I opened this book, sitting on my wives shelf. I rarely do this, but something drew me to it. What an incredible, sad, important story. This should be required reading, and someone in the late 30s should not be hearing about this for the first time then.

The writing is fantastic; with strong biographical, historical, and informative all at the same time. And is able to connect all three in a unique story that we all must hear.

Please do yourself a favor and read this.

Skloot is a great storyteller, gathering and synthesizing multiple perspectives.
