I normally don't write reviews especially if it's a book i didnt enjoy, but this book is the worst of the series and the premise for the plot was just a no. It was setting up to be a nice enemies to lovers but the mothers story just ruined everything. It was also too fast and had no depth for development of relationship for them especially with how the previous books were written.

Deutsch:
Also die Mutter hat mich wirklich genervt, aber ich muss zugeben, es war eine gute Story. Ich bin nicht so wirklich ein Fan von "mating/heat", aber es war trotzdem nett.
English:
The mother really got on my nerves, but I have to admit, it was a good story. I'm not really a fan of the whole "mating/heat" trope, but it was still a nice read.

This is a ridiculously fun series! Highly addictive. It is hard to describe why it is so appealing given the sheer ridiculousness of the entire plot ... but this was a surprisingly engaging read ... especially the first 2/3. Unfortunately, the momentum did wane towards the end with too much focus on the deranged mother/father relationship. The author has shared quite openly about the writers block she experienced when writing this book and I wonder if the slightly rushed and less than satisfying ending are because of this? The last third of the book really did not carry the weight of the momentum of the first 2/3. Regardless, I did really love this book ... a super fun read with interesting, well-developed characters, excellent world-building/setting, and the scorching hot chemistry (something this author does very well)! Possibly my favourite book of the series so far?

Wow, I think this was the first Alessandra hazard books I didn't enjoy... I didn't feel a connection to the characters or even between them. Samir was like a fish without a spine, most of the books he didn't think for himself, he just did what his mother told him to do. All the pining, sexual chemistry, needy goodness that Alessandra used to write in her previous books was lacking. The book felt rushed, I read all of her books, and even when the books were short I always felt a feeling of contentment, this didn't leave me with that feeling. The background story was generic and repetitive, Ms. Hazard seemed to go round and round in circles with going anywhere. I would have loved to see the tour they did across the country, maybe seeing War warming to Samir during their "forced" road trip together... But we only had a glimpse of sexy times during their trip... I heard that the author was having a major block writing this book, I speak for myself and myself alone but I would rather wait 2 more years and have a better War book (love the character in the other books) than feeling that a great character was wasted.

This book was a real let down from the fascinating world created at the start of the series.

Warrehn returns to his kingdom to find the woman who killed his parents and her son ruling in his stead. He can’t kick them out since the people love Samir, but he’s looking for proof of the murderess’ guilt.

Samir doesn’t like his mother’s scheming, but wants to stay in the loop to protect Warrehn and his Mom. She creates a clone of Warrehn’s Dad, which is against the law, and makes no sense in the plot, even when it’s relevant at the end of the book.

Between a love drug mistake and a toxic traumatic relationship of the mens’ parents, there’s little to make them a healthy couple. The intimacy and emotion are only clear at the end, the rest is a strange mix of obsession and anger.

The end is both abrupt and ridiculous, Warrehn’s focus on justice turns on a dime, and a happy ending is superficially reached.
