Wow, not what I was expecting at all. I devoured this. I loved the way the relationship developed. I loved the ending that didn't feel like an abrupt arrival and end scene.

This book has been on my tbr for years now and every time I picked it up to read I always ended putting it off again. I like to think it was maybe because it wasn’t the right time to read it and it was probably true because Just Last Night was a rollercoaster of emotions. Also I had so idea Mhairi McFarlane was such a talented writer and now I will binging all her books.
It was SO good. I recommend going into it without knowing too much because I had little to know clue other than what the synopsis said and I was very shocked with the amount of twists and turns this novel took. I know this is labeled as primary romance and while there is a little, I will say that it is more of a subplot and honestly I am glad for it because It would not have had the same effect had there been more cheesy romance.
All you need to know is that it follows the story of a group of friends Eve, Susie, Justin and Ed. Who have been friends since they were kids and stayed close into adulthood. After one night at their usual night out at the pub for a quiz night, everything changes and their lives were never the same again.
It is told from Eve’s perspective and I had so much fun reading from her POV, Eve was my favorite part of the book. She is witty, kind and relatable. She was a breath of fresh to be honest after reading the same type of voice in rom coms so far. I laughed, I cried and I wanted more.

I think this is going to be one of the most memorable romantic comedy books I’ve ever read! It was so so heartbreaking. The grief aspect had me close to tears many times! And the sort of diversions along the way, thinking Ed was going to be the knight in shining armour and finding out he was quite a manipulative creature instead. The betrayal with Susie & the real reason Finlay was the way he was. It was absolutely brilliant.
