The book made me want to read on and on. The cliffhangers at the end of the chapters are spot on. But damn, can't a woman just be a woman without commenting on her weight?

The point were it became clear to me that David did it was when Ruth had sex with Nelson. After that David's presence didn't make much sense, other than him being the killer/kidnapper. Should have made Ruth fall in love with him for real, that would have made the book more surprising.

I didn't find David's motive very convincing. I also really don't get why Erik and Shona would write the letters, that's just fucked up.

David and Erik dying in the end felt a bit easy. That way difficult thing didn't have to be explained. And why did Ruth had to get pregnant with Nelson's child? Why was motherhood so important in this book? Couldn't she just stay child free and happy with that?

All in all I had fun reading this, but it wasn't the best book I've read. I'll try the next book, but I have a feeling I'll stop after that one.

This is a great mystery. I can’t wait to read the next one!

Gotta say that I really enjoyed this story and meeting the main characters.
They were interesting and quirky and I am looking forward to more time with them.
This is a nicely paced story, unfolding a bit at a time, it is not fast paced or a thriller by any means but a well written and enjoyable book.
Little twists here and there and beautiful descriptions without being overly done. Looking forward to reading this series.
