again, a really exciting thriller by mcfadden. i just can’t get enough. this was filled with good plottwists. but as a seasoned freida mcfadden reader i did see some of the twists coming. still really thrilling to read and like always you can’t get enough of it. it’s always a one or two day affair with freida.

2 stars feels a little harsh, but also looking at other books and specifically other Freida books that I gave 3s I just feel like this one was worse so I have to do it I'm sorry.

possible vague spoilers btw I'm not sure

I just feel like barely anything happened, same repetitive little incidents (which were frustrating to read especially OVER AND OVER AGAIN). I didn't find the twist super shocking like some of Freida's past ones like it obviously wasn't gonna be who it seemed like it was but there wasn't really many other characters or anything so I was like at most mildly surprised after reading 3/4 of the book which was just like irritating interactions for hundreds of pages. Twist just wasn't worth the frustration. Then I had to relive all that frustration because we then went back over like everything that had happened in the whole damn book a second time, but from a different POV. Ugh. I get why some of it was necessary but I feel like the twist established who was doing everything and why, I didn't need it spelled out for me in detail for chapters upon chapters. A brief summary and then the stuff we didn't know yet would've sufficed. And the end and epilogue twist didn't really effect me either I just didn't even care probably because I hate everyone in the book so it doesn't really matter what happens to them imo. INSUFFERABLE characters. Literally every single one no exceptions. Just every page of this like irritated me whether it was their behavior or the story it was all just frustrating I have a headache just writing about it.

Typical Freida McFadden

3 ⭐️ Average thriller, i don’t think this is Frieda McFaddens best work either tbh, but it was entertaining & twisty as always.
